Hi folks,
Apologies for the delay in sending out this newsletter—there’s been a lot happening. The research for my next book is taking a lot of time, as well as several other projects for various publications and our cross-Canada “Faces of Abortion” Tour that is being launched from coast to coast this month. If you’re in Canada, check out the list of tour stops here. In the meantime, a few links:
At The Bridgehead, I have an essay on why conservatives and Christians lost the entertainment culture wars—because we were catechized by the culture, not the other way around: “How conservatives lost the entertainment culture wars.” From the conservative fawning over plot-driven pornography like Game of Thrones to the erosion of any moral standard for entertainment even among Christian communities, it is no surprise that even The Daily Wire’s attempt at providing an alternative has been, thus, far, pretty pathetic.
At The American Conservative, I have an essay on how the transgender movement took over entertainment, with every genre of film from romantic comedy to drama now featuring powerful transgender storylines intended to change first how you feel about their ideology—and then how you think about it: “Transparent Propaganda.”
On the podcast, I chatted with Peachy Keenan (that’s a pseudonym—she lives in California and needs one), who recently wrote Domestic Extremist: A Practical Guide to Winning the Culture War, published by Regnery Books. As the title indicates, Keenan, who wasted her twenties as a feminist, now advocates for home and hearth as the path to the good life. She has some interesting insights.
As always, I’ve got plenty of other short, regular culture updates on The Bridgehead, and you can get a copy of Prairie Lion: The Life and Times of Ted Byfield here and here, and my other books here. I have several more essays with editors, and so I’ll have the next newsletter out in shorter order.
Have a great week, all. Thanks for reading!
