Hello, all!
A few columns and podcast conversations for you this weekend.
At The European Conservative, I have a review of the new Israeli documentary Screams Before Silence: “The Sexual War Crimes of October 7.” Warning: It’s a tough read, and the documentary was a brutal watch.
I also have an essay on the conundrum of so-called “Western values.” The issue of mass migration is once again one of the most politically potent issues as the costs of importing mass numbers of people from other cultures become increasingly obvious. The problem, many conservatives have argued, is that most incomers do not assimilate. But assimilate to what? Pride Parades and hedonistic materialism? What does the West have on offer these days? How do we deal with the Western moral vacuum? I tackle the issue here: “What Are Western Values Anyway?”
I recently had a conversation with Roger Foley, a Canadian man with disabilities who has made national (and international) headlines after he went public with recordings that documented medical professionals offering him euthanasia, time and time again. You can listen to that here: “Disabled Canadian man being pressured to consider euthanasia speaks.”
Finally, I have a conversation with Justin Brierly, a well-known Christian podcast host and the author of a fascinating new book titled The Surprising Rebirth of Belief in God: Why New Atheism Grew Old and Secular Thinkers Are Considering Christianity Again. He points to a growing number of intellectuals who are increasingly favorable to Christianity—Douglas Murray, Jordan Peterson, Niall Ferguson—as well as others who have converted to Christianity, such as Ayaan Hirsi Ali, and notes that we may be seeing the beginnings of the “tide of faith” coming back in. We had a lively discussion about that thesis here:
