Hi everyone,
Apologies for the delay in sending this newsletter—I’ve been in the Netherlands to do some lectures (on the sexual revolution, assisted suicide, abortion, and other subjects)—and I spent a week in Spain after that. This is just a short roundup of some of the articles and podcasts I’ve done recently, with a longer newsletter to come shortly!
In First Things, I have a column titled “Leonard Cohen’s Lost Children,” on the many children of the Canadian poet and songwriter who were lost to abortion and the hidden truth behind many of Cohen’s lyrics.
At The American Conservative, I have an obituary for Woody Williams, who was the last surviving Medal of Honor recipient from the Second World War. I interviewed Woody some time back—he singlehandedly cleared five Japanese pillboxes with a flamethrower and watched the flag go up over Iwo Jima. The last men and women of the Greatest Generation are almost all gone.
I recently went on the Thinking Faith podcast to discuss what a post-Roe world could look like with Dr. Charlie Camosy (who has written several brilliant books about abortion) and Dr. Brett Salkeld. It was a long conversation split into two—you can listen to Part I here and Part II here.
For a conversation on the Canadian abortion wars and the Conservative leadership race, I joined Scott Hayward and Alissa Golob on the Stinking Albatross Podcast. We covered Trudeau, Pierre Poilievre, and a range of other topics.
On my own podcast, I had a conversation with Andrew Lawton about his new (best-selling!) book The Freedom Convoy, listed as a top non-fiction seller by both the Toronto Star and the Globe and Mail. I also reviewed the book here—I really enjoyed it.
NEW BOOKLET: For those of you interested in the subject of embryo adoption, my colleague (and sister) Justina Van Manen and I have written a short booklet on the subject that I hope you’ll find helpful—that resource can be found here. (Here’s a short review on it from Reformed Perspective Magazine.)
There’s also a dozen or so shorter culture war updates over at The Bridgehead if you feel so inclined—you can check them out here.
I’ll have more for you soon!
