Malcolm Muggeridge and an update from the culture wars
Hi everyone,
Just a few columns for today (more coming this week.)
I’ve got one on “cry-bullying”—or, how to weaponize your identity for political purposes. It’s all the rage these days, as you may have noticed.
This one is on actress Lena Dunham’s attempt to claim that porn can be “healing,” to which I respond with feminist Andrea Dworkin’s rebuke to the Left: “The new pornography is left-wing; and the new pornography is a vast graveyard where the Left has gone to die. The Left cannot have its whores and its politics too.”
On the podcast, I talk to Chris Elston, the hero dad who has been single-handedly taking on the transgender movement/industry in the face of brutal violence to himself. He’s quit his job to travel the country confronting the public on this issue. An extraordinary man.
There’s also the story of the mom suing a school after her sixth-grader was persuaded to be transgender; a roundup of culture war updates from around the world; and female swimmers finally speaking out about being forced to share changerooms with Lia Thomas, the man claiming to be a woman in order to destroy the female competition at swim meets. Thomas, you see, still has a penis—and is still attracted to girls. What we are doing to young women is utterly shameful.
Finally, I have an essay at The European Conservative on the great conservative journalist Malcolm Muggeridge, an anti-abortion activists who penned the afterword to Ronald Reagan’s book on abortion and a front-row witness to most of the 20th century. I believe he has much to teach us today.
That’s all for today. Enjoy your week!
