The first assisted suicide bill died in the Lords. The second is likely to be quietly euthanized by a Labour prime minister who finds it inconvenient—which would be a fitting end indeed.

Finally, the Special Joint Committee on Medical Assistance in Dying has now recommended permanently banning euthanasia for mental illness.
