I used to enjoy The Antiques Road Show before it turned into a brocante market in our beautiful cathedrals. It is easy to spot the few Catholic antique experts because they express their unease with the venues. I was horrified to see a scene from a Mr Bean movie with him doing a stupid trapeze act before the Altar in the cathdral in my home town of St Albans. Sad and Bad.

So Roman Catholic. Yes the buildings

have been consecrated but I think the real church in Britain goes on in purpose built buildings that are run by evangelical Ministries. Those old cathedrals and churches are really not fit for purpose. You need open areas for music, children, multi media, young people etc. I have seen evangelical ministers give running a modern church a good go but always feel sorry that that are trapped in those little, old spaces. I do attend in my country a prayer book service in our traditional church but the main activities and services go on at a purpose built place nearby. We are all mostly older who attend the traditional services.
