It is sad Eliot believed she needed to mutilate her body to achieve a sort of emotional transcendence and inner contentment. It is painful to look at their new body now. Their body now appears to be more of a symbol of their interior pain than a transformation into self love.
When you hear stories like this, it really does make you wonder how many times people have transitioned or become gay, bit etc, due to mistreatment of them when young or even as young adults. I'm not saying this is always the case, but so often it seems that at least some people who have been badly ,mistreated/abused, start preferring the same sex or want to transition. If this is indeed so, then it is truly horrendous. Obviously the mistreatment is horrendous whatever. So many tragic things happen to people.
A long, misguided path becoming their 'authentic selves'. As another commenter noted, why stop at sex organs, when every cell in your body is male or female.
They're confused, damaged and have been sold a lie. I don't like seeing it being celebrated in the way it is.
In hearing this story, Ellen’s choice to transition feels like a reaction to her own personal pain. And maybe even a desire to appear strong in male form in order to keep it from happening again. A disassociation of sorts.
I feel that a lot of people in general are doing it to feel special. That it is the new in style way to feel special.
And in the case of Hollywood children, I wonder if it is a new way of setting themselves apart from their famous mothers—perhaps feeling like they can’t compete with them or in an effort to feel special in their own. 🤔

That's very true. And true I think for most transitioning girls at the moment.

It's a travesty and I hope to god it stops soon!
Whenever I see a story like this, I ask myself one simple question. If genitalia don't define gender, how does removing them affirm it?
Hmmmm 🤔
