In a Q and A after his last speech before he was fired from Fox News, Tucker Carlson was asked what the greatest cultural shift of the past few decades has been. His answer surprised me. He didn’t cite the internet itself, but rather the growing censorship of the digital realm and the likelihood, in his view, that dissident information would become increasingly difficult to obtain. His advice?
Dear Jonathan: Now I have a reason for saving most or all of my books in my personal library: the likes of Tucker Carlson and yourself have made it clear. I agree with what you say about the censorship going on among ignorant pseudo elites who think their way is the right way. As a writer, I am saddened and appalled how anyone can take a writer's work and change it in any way. My heart skips when I hear this. Writing is part of the writer and cannot be conformed to the latest fads or ideology that will never last the test of time. I enjoyed your take on this topic and your examples and I am looking forward to reading more of your work.
The arbiters if this age are just plain stupid. I have had to dispose of several parents/ step parents’ libraries and have cleaned out my library but it looks like I have to get to and start again.
